  • Disengaged learner in traditional classroom setting
  • Behind academically (gaps in knowledge) particularly in literacy and/or numeracy skills
  • Difficulty with learning skills
  • Likely to take locally developed or applied courses at high school
  • Often receiving accommodations or on modified programming (IEP not a requirement)
  • May have difficulty with social interactions
  • May be experiencing frustration tied to learning challenges
